It is a term that encompasses all forms of technologies used to create, store, exchange and utilize information in its various forms including business data, conversations, still images, motion pictures and multimedia presentations. IT provides the engine used to drive useful information systems, which includes computers, software, internet/intranet and telecommunications. The field of IT is virtually blooming today, with more advanced technology coming into the market, making life a lot simpler for both home and business users. The internet had been a marvel when it came into existence a couple of decades back. Then came email and mobile technology. Then it was broadband, VoiP, WiFi and optical fiber communications. Each innovation has been bestowing more benefits on its users. Computers are getting faster and more reliable then ever before. And software isn’t lagging too far behind either. Some of the latest IT technologies that just entered the IT arena: BlackBerry The BlackBerry is a stunning handheld device that is actually a cellular phone which also supports email, browsing, internet faxing, online printing and a variety of other functions online. This is basically designed to let busy business people or executives to access the Internet even when they have to tour internationally. This efficient Palm device easily connects to the Internet without the least bit of trouble and can help its user arrange all his data according to his preferences. Triple play and quadruple play The Triple play service gives its user the benefit of high-speed Internet, clarity of audio telephone connection through VoIP and additionally also provides VoD (Video on Demand), that is, high video output as well. Much of today’s online gaming industry relies on triple play technology. Quadruple play includes all the above, plus seamless and smooth transmission of data over networks as well. Digital Home Technology Integrator (DHTI) This current technology is designed for those who deal with networking home computers. This technology lets them integrate home computers over a single, efficient network. IPTV IPTV or Internet Protocol Television relies on the Triple play service. This delivers broadband connections, VoIP and VoD services too, all at the same time. This type of TV is also popularly known as the ‘Internet Television’. This connects online using LANs or other computer networks. Tech equipment A lot of new mobile, computer and laptop models too are entering the market every single day, each one with more features than its predecessor. GSM mobile phones are being used in a big way to help both the police and the public. These phones help in vehicular tracking and also provide precise city and road maps to those traveling to new, unknown locations. The latest tech news is that Seagate is planning to introduce its new laptop which is slated to have 10 times more disk storage space than the regular laptop computer. This could lead to a laptop being capable of storing up to one terabyte of data, which is an amazing concept in itself. 4G MOBILE TECH The use of G, standing for generation, in mobile technology covers the major advances of the past 20-30 years. 1G technology involved the first widely available mobile phones. 2G technology, which began in the early 1990s, switched to a digital format and introduced text messaging. 3G technology improved the efficiency of how data is carried, making it possible to carry enhanced information services such as websites in their original format. The latest iPhone is the best known example of 3G technology. 4G mobile technology is the name given to the next generation of mobile devices such as cell phones. 4G mobile is not yet established as an agreed set of standards, so its features are currently simply goals rather than requirements. As well as drastically increasing data transfer speeds, 4G mobile should use enhanced security measures. Another goal is to reduce blips in transmission when a device moves between areas covered by different networks. 4G mobile networks should also use a network based on the IP address system used for the internet. Wi – Fi The term Wi-Fi suggests wireless fidelity. Wi-Fi uses both single carrier direct-sequence spread spectrum radio technology (part of the larger family of spread spectrum systems) and multi-carrier OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) radio technology. A Wi-Fi enabled device such as a PC, game console, mobile phone, MP3 player or PDA can connect to the Internet when within range of a wireless network connected to the Internet. The coverage of one or more interconnected access points — called a hotspot — can comprise an area as small as a single room with wireless-opaque walls or as large as many square miles covered by overlapping access points. Wi-Fi technology has served to set up mesh networks, for example, in London. Both architectures can operate in community networks. In addition to restricted use in homes and offices, Wi-Fi can make access publicly available at Wi-Fi hotspots provided either free of charge or to subscribers to various providers. New development in the field of computer science and IT 1. Scientists developed a new revolutionary system to help individuals with disabilities to control wheel chairs, computers and other devices. 2. the latest inventions from scientists at university of Hertfordshire, UK, is a dolls house that could one day change our way of life. 3. Scientists developed the world’s fastest computer that is able to perform 1000 trillion operations per second. 4. Wince Rotello and his team from the university of Massachusetts and Georgia institute of technology develop a ‘nano-nose’ to find and identify different anomalies ie. Illness in a human body. 5. Oracle Corporation has acquired sun micro system. It is the third largest hardware company in the world. Now oracle has database, ERP, Name as Oracle financial, CRM, Sibel and hardware mainly servers and java as language. 6. Tech Mahindra has acquired Satyam Corporation from government bidding process. 7. One of the Japan companies has introduced a letter form of human robotics which can give a specific expression like smile.
